Science Prophet is a nonprofit, digital community, facilitating thought and discussion on scientific and technological developments and their impacts on civilization, both now and in the future.
Through accessible articles, Science Prophet will share the thoughts of leading researchers from around the world, sparking debate about what tomorrow’s societies could look like, and how they would impact the individual.
Civil Society Organisations and their Future
Civil society is an ancient concept. One of the first Roman philosophers to talk about civil society, as we know it today, was a man named Marcus Tullius Cicero (106-46 BC). He argued that human beings have the capacity to come together voluntarily to work towards a functioning society: Societas Civilis.
As mankind continues to search for this ideal, a rising number of smart, aware and connected citizens have begun engaging with business people and politicians, entering a discussion that they hope will bring about a better society. At Science Prophet, we are attempting to bring this discussion to the world. We want to create an open conversation, debating the future of social structures, in order to bring us closer to the ideal.
Philosophy
Mankind is going through a critical evolutionary period. Since the birth of the industrial revolution, technology has been improving at an exponential rate, causing changes to society that are becoming increasingly difficult to predict.
The way in which civilization operates is no longer steered by businesses and governments, it is driven by technological developments; the arrival of the unforeseen, which makes our future extremely fragile.
We need to establish a global conversation and rational thought process in order to ensure that society can stay on track.
